The Spring 2010 Academy is open to all players that want the best opportunities to advance in soccer.
Here is what the Academy will have to offer this upcoming season:
Spring Training and Game Schedules
Training
-Players will be divided into "player pools" based on abilities rather than smaller individual teams.
The Advantages of Pool Training
- By mixing players outside their respective teams, we allow for all the positive developmental aspects that come from stepping beyond their comfort zone. Isolationism amongst our youngest teams can be detrimental to young players’ development.
- Players are placed in an environment that allows them to develop an awareness of the “club culture” among different peers with whom they may compete in the future. It is less about the team and more about the club.
- The coaching Staff is afforded regular evaluation opportunities across a given age group.
- Pool training is a competitive cauldron across teams, giving players a chance to learn from and measure themselves against the best talent of their own age. For the best players, it is an opportunity to demonstrate skill and gain confidence and also to be a model for the players who are not as strong.
-Players will also have the option of training on Mondays in age group stations format training and Wednesdays for Speed and Agility training and/or goalkeeper training.
Teams
-Teams will be split equally for the in-house 6v6 games and in-house 8v8 games to create parity in the match ups.
-Teams will be formed from the player pools for the 8v8 games vs. other developmental clubs.
Games
Teams will play:
-2-3 6v6 games in house
-2 8v8 games in house
-4-6 8v8 games vs. developmental teams from other clubs.
We will not keep standings in our games. The focus of the Academy is to develop the players, not to win. If we strive for excellence now we will see much greater success later.
Tournaments
-Teams will play in 1-2 tournaments during the season
Cost:
$70 Registration
3 - $65 monthly training fees (Feb.17-May 14)
