The Youth Development Program will offer all NYSA players the best opportunity to develop as young players. In the YDP, all NYSA players will be coached by professionally licensed coaches that understand the needs of the youth soccer player. We will also be able to use this program as a mentor tool for our volunteer coaches and aspiring coaches.
The YDP will be a curriculum based program ensuring that all of our players will follow the same developmental path at this critical stage of their development. All U8 and U9 players will participate in the YDP. At U10, the players will have the choice of continuing in the YDP or playing recreational soccer.
As a club we understand that change can be tough, but we feel that the YDP style system will benefit your child and increase their development in the game of soccer. We believe that by implementing these ideas, we will see players improve at greater rates in a fun and a positive environment. There may be a few bumps along the way as we make these changes but we at NYSA are confident that this program will improve your child's overall soccer experience while encouraging creativity and building confidence.

There are many people, particularly in sports who think that success and excellence is the same thing and they are not the same thing. Excellence is something that is lasting and dependable and largely within a person’s control. In contrast, success is perishable and is often outside our control… If you strive for excellence, you will probably be successful eventually… people who put excellence in first place have the patience to end up with success… An additional burden for the victim of the success mentality is that he is threatened by the success of others and resents real excellence. In contrast, the person fascinated by quality is excited when he sees it in others."
