U9 Youth Development Program

At U9 our players will continue to build into the YDP. Players are like sponges at this age and we want to take advantage of this time and create the opportunity for our players to receive more training. Players will have professional staff coaches at each training session and have opportunities for extra training. We want our U9 to be introduced into the club atmosphere and begin training and developing friendships with players they will be competing against.

Teams

Teams will be formed using current NYSA U9 team forming guidelines. Each team will have a volunteer coach and NYSA Staff coach.

Training

-Players will train twice per week. The first training session of the week will age group stations based training.

Age Group Stations ex.:

Fun Warm up

Station 1: running with the ball

Station 2: Change of direction

Station 3: 1v1

-Second Training session of the week will be with teams. Two teams will train together in these sessions.

-Players will also have the option of receiving a third skills session if they so choose.

-Each Training session will be 1 hour in length.

Games

Teams will play 6v6 games in NYSA in house league. After the Fall season teams will be split into two different leagues to keep parity in leagues.

Expectations

Discipline is a key factor when learning the game of soccer. Players need to be on time wearing proper athletic clothing. Equipment, including a soccer ball, shin-guards with socks pulled up and water bottle are mandatory items for each session. We also require that the players treat the coaching staff, opponents, and referees with the utmost respect. Many of these standards come from the parent and the coach setting the example.
