At the U10 stage of the YDP, players will have a choice of staying in the program or moving to recreational soccer. Both are great options and we at NYSA will help and support you and your player in making this decision.
U10 YDP
We at NYSA want our players to have an equal opportunity to play and train against other players that are of equal, lesser, and greater ability. We believe this will give each player the chance to gain confidence and be challenged to make them greater players. The training and game format of the U10 YDP will give them all of these opportunities as well as creating a great club atmosphere where players will learn about their club and make friendships with all of those they are competing with.
YDP will be open to all players who want to continue to develop their soccer skills and may have aspirations of becoming great players.
Teams
Players who are in the U10 YDP will be split into equal teams to create parity in the league. Teams will be coached by NYSA professional staff coaches who excel at teaching our young players.
Training
-U10 YDP players will train once a week with their teams and once a week in an age group training session.
-Using the NYSA club training schedule, they will also have the option of going to an extra technical training session, and a speed and agility session during the week.
-During age group sessions they will be moved around to train with different players and have the opportunity to play some 8v8 games.
Games
Teams will play in an in-house league against other YDP teams. They will have an 8-10 game season. Scores and standings will not be kept in this league as the focus is purely on the players development. We will keep points standings for
Tournaments
Teams will conclude each season with a single elimination tournament to crown a tournament and league champion.
Teams will also have the option to play in 1-2 tournaments and compete against other developmental teams.
Expectations
Discipline is a key factor when learning the game of soccer. Players need to be on time wearing proper YDP training kit. Equipment, including a soccer ball, shin-guards with socks pulled up and water bottle are mandatory items for each session. We also require that the players treat the coaching staff, opponents, and referees with the utmost respect. Many of these standards come from the parent and the coach setting the example.
