5 Tips for New Coaches
1. Make having FUN the #1 priority
Win/loss coaches’ players do not return, and that is the true measure of a good coach
2. Stress to your players that they stay away from each other
It’s very easy for players to bunch up and still that will hurt the flow of the game and the development of the players. Look to form triangles and diamonds with your teams, these are the basic building shapes for all soccer teams.
3. Rotate your players through all positions
Talents seen in young players might not be the ones that are best when that player gets a little older
4. Praise your players when they do the things you want to see and have the players praise themselves
5. Before the season starts set some ground rules with parents and players on your team
